What are SDED's "Ambassadors"?
They're Volunteers -- and they're excited about
Community Choice electricity.
We train them. They do stuff. You could be one.
Ambassadors are Sparks at the Grass Roots
In 2017, SDED has relaunched our "Ambassador" program. More content, more things to do. And real Local Action.
What does an Ambassador do? Basically, whatever they want. We have three levels of engagement: Juice, SmartMeters and Transformers. After an Intro training, Ambassadors choose from a menu opportunities. We train and support them, no matter what. Ambassadors can carry the Community Choice story into their neighborhoods and wider communities. They can do social media, dig into CCE content, assist with events and trainings and/or become subject-matter experts. They also help SDED in all facets of operations.

- "Juice" -- You want to understand Community Choice basics and help create change. You're ready to go to Council meetings, convince your friends and neighbors, and help get things passed.
- "SmartMeters" -- You want all of the above, but you don't want to stop there. You're ready to understand Choice more deeply, and maybe get into other "decarbonized electricity system" topics.
- "Transformers" -- You have some time and you want to make a bigger difference. You're ready for a role learning a lot and/or leading a task or activity for SDED.

Not just a mailing list any more. In the old days, SDED's Ambassadors were used only for specific purposes. When we called, Ambassadors cranked up the heat on decision-makers going in anti-CCA directions. It worked. Examples:
- In 2014, Ambassadors helped defeat AB 2145, a bill to gut Community Choice. SDED's team joined the statewide Community Choice community to rally against that CCA-killing measure. We all won.
- In 2015, we helped ensure that the landmark climate bill SB350 didn't damage Community Choice via thinly-disguised utility-submitted "refinements".
Today, It Takes a Village to Change a City
Community Choice is coming to San Diego's City Council in 2017. All possible support is needed to ensure a successful vote. SDED supports and thanks all of the following organizations -- together, we're building the groundswell for this vote. Join SDED and/or any of these; just JOIN. Pitch in and make your voice heard.
